Dr Mark Thompson was the second Gastroenterologist to arrive on the Gold Coast in early 1985. Since that time he has provided a comprehensive service in gastroenterology covering both the Gold Coast and northern NSW. During his career on the Gold Coast, Dr Thompson has been the developer and operator of both Pacific Private Hospital and Tweed Day Surgery. Dr Thompson is currently the Managing Director of The Gastrointestinal Centre which provides a comprehensive consulting and G.I. endoscopic service to the Gold Coast and northern NSW. Dr Allchurch completed specialty training as a specialist anaesthetist in Southeast Queensland and Northern New South Wales. Dr Allchurch graduated with 1st Class Honours from the University of Queensland School of Medicine in 2006 after first completing a degree in Biomedical Science at Griffith University. From 2014 to 2022 Dr Allchurch worked as a specialist anaesthetist at Gold Coast University, Robina, and Varsity Lakes Public Hospitals. Here, she gained extensive experience in the areas of Ophthalmic, Head and Neck, Upper Limb, and Endoscopy Anaesthesia. Dr Allchurch served as the Clinical Lead for Ophthalmic Anaesthesia.

Growing up in Brisbane, Jo Burton studied medicine at the University of Queensland and graduated in 2006. Dr Burton then worked as a junior doctor for 2 years at Gold Coast Hospital, before being accepted into specialist anaesthetic training. She completed the required five years of specialist training at public hospitals throughout south east Queensland and northern New South Wales. Since obtaining her Fellowship of ANZCA (Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists) in February 2017, she now works as a specialist anaesthetist in public practice at Tweed Hospital, and privately with Coast Anaesthesia. In 2005 Dr Doogan completed a Bachelor of Medical Science/ Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of NSW in Sydney. Upon completion of this combined degree she worked as a resident medical officer at the Prince of Wales Hospital and Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick. In these years she gained a broad range of experience in both adult and paediatric critical care medicine.
In 2010 she began training to be an Anaesthetist at the Prince of Wales and Sydney Children’s Hospital. During these years Dr Doogan worked at a number of hospitals around NSW including St George Hospital in Kogarah where she completed a fellowship year. Dr Lekich is a Queensland medical graduate with a 15-year microsurgical background working in the field of ophthalmology and retinal microsurgery, hence his love of microscopes. He was originally pursuing a career as an eye specialist, working in a retinal clinic whilst studying for his basic ophthalmic exams, and then changed his pursuits from eye surgery to the treatment of varicose veins using endovenous laser and ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy (hence his love of ultrasound) and becoming a fellow of the Australasian College of Phlebology. This came about due to the serious blood clot his then-wife developed in varicose veins during pregnancy.
